Minecraft Nether Portal Coordinate Calculator
Traveling between the overworld and the nether is one of Minecraft's most useful mechanics for fast transportation. Because the nether is compressed — one block in the nether equals eight blocks in the overworld — you need to calculate coordinates carefully to link your portals correctly.
This free nether portal calculator instantly converts your overworld X and Z coordinates to their nether equivalents, or works in reverse. Whether you're building a nether highway, linking a base portal, or planning a long-distance travel network, accurate coordinates save time and prevent portals from spawning in unexpected locations.
Simply enter your overworld coordinates, and the tool divides X and Z by 8 (or multiplies when going the other direction). The Y coordinate remains unchanged. Use the bidirectional toggle to switch conversion direction.
Tips for Portal Linking
Build your nether portal at the exact calculated coordinates for the best results. If multiple portals exist nearby, Minecraft links to the closest one within range. Keep portals at least 1024 blocks apart in the overworld (128 in the nether) to ensure separate portal pairs.
